In order for everyone to feel welcome and safe, the Code of Conduct is abided by each dancer, organiser, musician, DJ, teacher, volunteer etc.

Our Code of Conduct applies to all official Aarhus Lindyhoppers activities.

Code of conduct

Diversity

Everyone is welcome regardless of culture, ethnicity/race, sexual orientation, gender expression, identity, religion, socioeconomic status, age, or ability.

Show respect to people with visible or hidden Disabilities. They might wear the Sunflower Icon or they might not. We are all dancers.

Respectful behaviour

Be part of creating a positive atmosphere.

Disrespect, hate speech, harassment, and discrimination are not tolerated. Be respectful towards all in our community!

Be very mindful or avoid correcting your partners or giving unsolicited advice about their dance.

Know your boundaries and respect the boundaries of others. It is ok to let others know if they cross them, but do it with respect.

Consent

Seek verbal consent when asking someone to dance.

It is always ok to decline to dance. You do not know their reasons and they might not want to tell you.

Be respectful of someone saying no.

Filming

Seek verbal consent if you would like to film or take a picture of a dance. Please respect a no.

Sexual behaviour

We do not tolerate unsolicited sexual attention.

If someone does not wish to dance a certain move or dance in a close position, respect their choice.

Safety on the dance floor

Take care not to hurt your dance partner, or other dancers. Check in with them if you are unsure.

When collisions on the dance floor happen, apologise and check that everyone is okay.

Gender

The lead and follower roles are not bound by genders.

Please help us and make an effort not to assume roles based on perceived gender.

Be intoxicated by the dance!

We love to get intoxicated by great music and dancing, but be mindful when consuming alcohol. Avoid inappropriate behaviour due to intoxication.

Hygiene

We are dancing close with a lot of people. Remember hand hygiene, and of course hygiene in general. It is not nice to dance with someone who has a bad odour.’

As a participant, you agree to abide by our policies. You also agree to abide by posted instructions at our events and the verbal instructions of staff. If you do not abide by our policies and written and verbal instructions, you may be asked to leave or face further consequences, including being asked to leave or being banned from the association.
