The classes usually spans 3-8 weeks, and the theme changes in accordance with the available teachers, their speciality or what they are excited about at the moment.

Boogie Woogie

with karsten & kathrin— 4 classes
Boogie Woogie is a high-energy social and competition dance that evolved from the swing family. It emerged in Europe during the 1940s and 50s as a variation of the American Lindy Hop, adapted to the music of the time - rock ’n’ roll, rhythm & blues and boogie woogie. In this 4-week course, we will explore the typical footwork of Boogie Woogie(including variations) as well as the characteristic style that creates its unique dance feeling. While highlighting the differences from Lindy Hop, we will focus on characteristic Boogie Woogie moves and techniques that capture the spirit of the energetic music.
Expect lively music, lots of laughter, and a workout that will leave you feeling great — and a little sweaty.

Balboa is a stylish, very up-tempo swing dance (can come up over 300 beats per minute) but doesn’t require such high levels of energy, due to the small steps and the close embrase of the partners. It started as early as 1915 in Southern California and gained in popularity especially during the 1930s. Like Lindy Hop it originated from the mother of all Swing dances: The Charleston. The art of Balboa is the subtle communication between the lead and follow, like weight shifts that most spectators cannot see.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE for this thematic class:
In this thematic class we will have two levels. Beginner and Intermediate. The first 3 weeks of classes will focus on beginners, while the two last weeks of classes will focus on intermediates.
Beginner: You are a beginner with no or some balboa experience, and you are keen on learning Balboa from the basics.
As a beginner you can attend the first 3 weeks, or the whole 6 weeks, from beginner to intermediate.Intermediate: You have attended the first Balboa thematic class or at least know the technique of both basics, out & ins, come around, toss out and lolly kicks. ST. LOUIS SHAG

Ruta & Dovile— 5 classes
St. Louis Shag is an up-tempo partnered swing dance that emerged in St. Louis, Missouri during the mid-1930s. St. Louis shag should NOT be confused with Collegiate Shag. Though it is also a fast swing dance that evolved from Lindy Hop, and Charleston, the basic step pattern here is an 8-count that is commonly composed of a left triple-step, kick, right triple-step, kick and can be danced to slower tunes. The Collegiate Shag however, is commonly composed of a 6-count slow, slow, quick quick small kicks.
Skilled St. Louis Shag dancers would change positions from side-by-side to open, hand-to-hand, back-to-back, and front-to-back positions, as well as break away from one another. During this thematic track, we will explore some of the rhythmical variations as well as different positions of the St. Louis Shag while having lots of fun.

Stealing partners is a playful and dynamic aspect of the dance that involves one dancer temporarily "stealing" another dancer's partner during a social dance.
Jam circle happens when dancers form a circle, and individuals or couples take turns jumping in to dance, celebrate someone, or just share the joy of the music. It’s one of the most recognizable cultural elements of the swing scene.
